I’m hypoglycemic (not diabetic) and I have to monitor my glucose. The results seem to be all over the place-maybe my blood sugar is that unstable or maybe this monitor is?? I tested twice within 10 minutes…the first time it was 31 and 10 minutes later it was 62! And sometimes it just says "LO" [...]

I am diabetic , i use Glucotrend Glucose monitor. In lab the blood sample is taken from vein. Experts here say that we should add 10 to the reading obtained but i differ with them because at home when we prick finger up, the blood is either vein, artery or both. Hence the reading can [...]

I have had three different blood glucose monitors (One touch ultra2, Accu-check compact, and Freestyle Light) I though all were good untill I started using the Freestyle Light. It would give me a lot of crazy numbers, and i’m not sure if they were correct or not. Examp. I would test my blood sugar and [...]

I don’t know if I have diabetes, so I bought a glucose monitor as I’ve been having some symptoms. I hadn’t eaten since 4am, I took the test "later that day" at 7pm. It was 96, apparently "close enough" to some doctors to consider diabetic according to a couple websites. This especially high for not [...]

Does anyone have any information regarding diabetes care (insulin dependant) in/around Manama? I will not have medical coverage and want to know how much medications (such as insulin and test strips for blood glucose monitors) cost? Also, is there any insurance plan that would cover this, if so please provide a name/contact. Thanks

I bought some current strips, but made a mistake and ordered the wrong ones for the monitor I have. I have some strips left that expired in October that I’ve been using as sort of a back up. I read somewhere that expired strips were actually still good. With the expired strips I’m getting readings [...]

I don’t have diabetes, but it runs in my family. I like to monitor my blood sugar every week. I noticed that pharmacies carry them behind the counter, as well as drug testing kits, etc. But how about those glucose test strips? Thanks so much.

I’ve recently been diagnosed with PCOS, a hallmark of which is insulin resistance. I’m not technically a diabetic YET (my last fasting glucose was actually 89, and I’ve been started on Metformin as a preventative) but I’d like to take a very proactive approach and start monitoring my glucose at the same time every week. [...]
